Guys,
I just created a search engine (http://immisearch.blogspot.com/) to help all people looking for a better way to search topics around immigration related activites. The search engine came as a result of my countless hours that I spent searching to answers around the web.
Try searching for any information with h1b, h4, Green Card, I-485, I140, citizenship etc, and the engine should give you a better result.
Leave a comment at the blog and let me know what else could be improved.

I applied for my AP in august 2007 my case was approved but i didnot get the document . When i called USCIS they told me to reapply for AP .
Now i got the AP document but the date issued is october 12 2008 to october 2009 .
But I want to travel outside in August . Can i use this AP , is the document valid , if i go i cant enter before october 12 2008 .
This is trouble.
They might have issued AP to you, lost somewhere in mail. Now they renewed starting expiry of first one.
On this AP - a big NO.
I hope someone familiar with this type of situation - is it possible to request USCIS by taking infopass?

I personally love and am proficient in Hindi but I don't think we should make this site look like a Desi forum. Even if your post about India, a lot south/east indian people don't speak/understand hindi.

Looks like (in my case) after waiting for more than 5 years it will still take 3-4 years. I am mad :mad:

How about setting up a poll to get a rough idea we could create a poll with a salary range and EB level for example 48000~ 59999 EB3 48000~59999 EB2 60000~70000 EB3 60000~70000 EB2 etc. this would give us a rough Idea about Levels and corresponding EB categories. I suggest using numerical ranges Instead of Levels because some people may not know the levels.
This poll can give us some thing like X% of level 3 are EB2 and Y% of Level 2 are EB3 sort of estimates.

Thank you for your post. I have recently received a green card through my spouse. I used to work in New York and lost my job in 2009 but never claimed benefits as I was not a permanent resident at that time. I got my green card in Jan2011. Can I apply now for unemployment benefits in NY state? I live in NYC and we pay taxes jointly since 2007. I have been unemployed for over 2 years now and am looking for jobs at the moment since I now have an EAD. Please advise. Thanks

Couldn't resist opening a new thread and sharing this with fellow IVians.
We got our green cards today. It is actually green (in the back).
Another announcement is that I recently relocated to northern Mississippi. Would like to join up with other state chapter members. I am willing to coordinate with the group in Memphis TN.
Thanks IV. I and my spouse benefited a lot from the July 2007VB and the work IV did concerning it. So, I will do more than just stick around but continue to be active as usual. The system is still broken and we will have to work to fix it.

I've been using Painter Classic/7 on and off. The interface is a little hard to get around, since it bears little resemblance to other graphic software. However, I discovered it is more oriented towards traditional art.
And I agree with Ed - not much use for it if you don't have a tablet... unless you're really good with a mouse.

I recently used the AP to enter the US. There were no issues in the US. However, the immigration official in India had some confusion trying to understand the AP. I had to show him a letter that my company's lawyer had given me listing the details of the AP and that I could use it for entering the US.

At present till now based on the talks i had with my employer i donot have any hopes that he will be running the pay stubs.
The pay specified in my LCA is $44000. I have been paid on hourly basis of 43$/hr till now and the pay stubs reflect that. If i go to DOL or go through attorney will i be paid at $44000 or will the previous pay stubs help in getting me the rightful salary.
Sure i will let know the employer name. I am just waiting to have my H1B transfer.

I am going for an InfoPass appointment tomorrow and thought of asking the members is the following questions seem appropriate. I dont expect the officer to answer all/any of them..but just thought of listing them..incase I get lucky and get a helpful officer.
- Is my case with an IO desk?
- Since when is it with an IO desk?
- if and when my background check updated?
- is background check same as IBIS check? If not then is IBIS check complete?
- if and when my FBI name check completed?
- is review awaiting some response from external agency
(Consulate post/FBI/BCP)?
- If under "additional review" What kind of "additional review" is it under?
- Expected time-frame for the additional review to be complete?
- Is it being actively worked on or just assigned to an officer and not updates?
- Is it being transferred to other/local office? Is any interview being planned?

oh yeah! it is legal i know that... however, i consulted lawyers on this and they were of the opinion that it is best to have a straight case where you are working for a large us corp. essentially, uscis can question if the company has enough work to sustain employing a person on a "permanent basis". that "permanent basis" appears to be one of the criteria for approval of labor/perm, I140 etc... thats why my query to you. it seems ability to pay can also be a question, however, that is not supposed to be brought up during adjudication of 485... so you are safe there...
so, this is real cool... thanks for sharing your info...
My I140 is applied by another company and 140 already approved. So i think ability to pay question only comes during 140. So after I140 approved i think it is safe to go in this route.

I was told by my attorney's office that the application will be rejected if re-filed. I have read though threads which claim that multiple filing is fine, but dont know what to trust!
